ASE PREP: Power Windows /ASE Course and BAR Specific Diagnostic Course
The power window circuit has both sides of the motor connected to ground. Now the first time I seen this it took me awhile to figure out the ground and power source current flow. Power windows sometimes uses the opposite switch for ground while the power is coming from the operating switch.
In other words:
When the window is operating, one side of the window is disconnected from ground and connected to power, the other side remains connected to ground.
Reversing the polarity reverses the motor and window operation, this is a series circuit.
ASE PREP: Power Windows
Power windows work by switching the power and grounds at the correct time in order to raise or lower the window glass.
A battery that is defective or a circuit that contains resistance will cause the window to move slower than normal.
If a power window is operative, check for a defective motor, defective switch, or an open wiring circuit.
