FREE ASE CERTIFICATION: B.A.R. COMPOSITE VEHICLE
The BAR Composite Vehicle is similar to the ASE Composite Vehicle for some reason the ASE, well I guess the copy right laws are preventing the B.A.R from using their material.
The composite vehicle below will be on the Smog license repair test, this page is basically me explaining how to read the schematic along with some sample test questions.
Warning I will be explaining some techniques along with sample questions as I go along with my explanations.
On this page there are about 20 pretest questions with the answers on the bottom of the page.
So, read the questions and choose the correct answers on a separate page, then review the answers as you scroll down the page.
This diagram like others has power starting from the top starting at the ignition switch, this switch provides power to several different components including the neutral safety switch.
Remember the starter will not turn over unless the vehicle is park or neutral and the switch is functional.
The next item on top of the page is the crank sensor, which is the most important sensor, without this sensor, which is also known as the RPM signal you would lose the ignition trigger, fuel pump and the injector trigger.
Now on newer vehicles this rule isn’t true any more, but remember we are talking about a composite vehicle.
On the left is the ECM connectors A, B, and C with individual pins for the different circuits. As you look towards the right you will see the schematic wiring stopping at the end of the page, but it continues to another page, which completes the schematic.
At the bottom of this same page you have the grounds, injectors, igniter, distributor, towards the right the ignition coil and the DLC connector.
On the next page you will see the continuation of the wiring diagram, and the input sensors.
This page you just view has the vacuum diagram, you will need to know how to read it, there are questions on the BAR Composite Vehicle test and the State examination.
Also you will need to know and understand how to read the pin chart, this would make reading the wiring diagram easier on the test.
